Killer Aspect - Bio

Bio

The band was founded in 2004 as Cabincrew by two former members of the band Killer - Timo Huhtala and Teijo Jämsä - and Samuli Relander who used to play guitar for the bands The Winyls and Personal Aspect.

Since Cabincrew was used by a dance act already, they changed their name, inspired by their former band names: Killer + Personal Aspect = Killer Aspect.

They soon met up at Timo's place and realised that it sounded worth a further approach after listening to some demo tapes together. The band was soon completed by Max (who was introduced by Teijo) and Jukka, Killer's on-tour keyboard player and friend.

The choice was made to form the band. They started practising at the Cable Factory (Helsinki) and wrote their first song, First Dance. Very motivated, they headed for the Finnish archipelago to compose more songs. Since they were all very enthusiastic about those, they booked Finnvox studios and recorded their first six songs. After that, they started rehearsing for their first shows, e.g. On the Rocks, Provinssirock and Tavastia Club (opening for Poets of the Fall).

In 2006, Jukka Backlund left the band to become a full-time member in Sunrise Avenue, the band whose debut album he had produced and who he had initially joined as live keyboarder. The connection to Sunrise Avenue was established through Teijo because he'd played as studio drummer on 6 tracks of their debut album until he set them up with their current drummer.

In 2007, Valeri Drobych - the youngest member of the band - completed Killer Aspect. He had known Teijo and Timo through a videoshoot for Natalya Podolskaya's "Nobody Hurt No One", a song written by Valeri's father as Russian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. Valeri and Teijo also played with Natalya's live setup in Kiev - they made it to position 15.

Their first single "TV" that was released on January 16 was first broadcasted on the radio in December 2007 and made it immediately to number one in the Ylex radio charts. Their follow-up single "Bloodshot" was also very successful and made it to number 5 in the year's hitlist. The band's debut album was released by the end of April 2008, named "How Does It Work".

In late 2008, Timo Huhtala left the band and Jaakko Pulkki whose way had crossed Killer Aspect's on several occasions (they had played shows together with Jaakko's numerous other bands, one of them being Radar - Samuli's second band) took over on the bass.

The new line-up is currently in studio to produce their second album.
