Kids Against Combs are a politically charged band from Brooklyn, New York, United States. The band, described as "indie agit-popsters", has songs that include "Counterfeit Shoegazers" and "False Prescription". The band is fronted by "Degal", a graduate student in political science at St. John's University.
Their album Sean Hannity (631) 673-8003 was due to be released on July 21, 2005 from 10-34 Records. The album was named for conservative Fox News Channel commentator Sean Hannity and his home phone number. This attracted legal threats from Hannity's attorneys, and Hannity got a new, unlisted phone number. The band renamed the album The Album Formerly Known As Sean Hannity's Phone Number.
According to Rich Van Vleet,
"What that band is doing, no one else is doing. ... Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes) sort of does it, but way more in an emotional, self-loathing type way. ... It goes way beyond simple spoof. What Kids Against Combs are trying to do is awaken an entire generation and say, 'Gosh! Look around you! You have rights!'"
Famous quotes containing the words kids and/or combs:
“Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.”
—Phyllis Diller (b. 1917)
“Here at the fountains sliding foot,
Or at some fruit-trees mossy root,
Casting the bodys vest aside,
My soul into the boughs does glide:
There, like a bird, it sits and sings,
Then whets and combs its silver wings,
And, till prepared for longer flights,
Waves in its plumes the various light.”
—Andrew Marvell (16211678)
