The Holstein & Kappert GmbH was founded in 1868 by Carl Kappert and Louis Holstein in Dortmund. In 1979 Klöckner-Werke AG took control of 51% of the Holstein & Kappert GmbH.

At the same time, Seitz, Enzinger and Noll merged to the company SEN, from which Klöckner-Werke AG held 24% in stocks.

In 1993, KHS was founded as a merger from different companies Holstein & Kappert GmbH and SEN. The abbreviation "KHS" represents the three former companies: Klöckner, Holstein and Seitz.

In the subsequent years KHS took over several competitors expanding the KHS product framework, 1997 the Grässle Company and 1999 Anker Company, which then changed its name to KHS Anker.

In 2000 GEA Till GmbH & Co. KG became KHS Till and in the year 2003 Kisters Maschinebau GmbH was taken over.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

It is the true office of history to represent the events themselves, together with the counsels, and to leave the observations and conclusions thereupon to the liberty and faculty of every man’s judgement.
    Francis Bacon (1561–1626)

Classes struggle, some classes triumph, others are eliminated. Such is history; such is the history of civilization for thousands of years.
    Mao Zedong (1893–1976)

History does nothing; it does not possess immense riches, it does not fight battles. It is men, real, living, who do all this.... It is not “history” which uses men as a means of achieving—as if it were an individual person—its own ends. History is nothing but the activity of men in pursuit of their ends.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)
