As of 2001 India census, Kheta Sarai had a population of 16,228. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kheta Sarai has an average literacy rate of 50%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 59%, and female literacy is 40%. In Kheta Sarai, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. Khetasari was chiefly under the control of Muslim rulers of jaunpur, they had developed the hotels so called sarai.Akbar had digg of a shahi pond situated 3 km apart from main marked on jaunpur road.Khetasarai is famous for the production of Parval and Kharbuja.During the time of aurazjeb 90% 0f Hindu has converted into Rautara Pathan.The Angira Rishi had made his temporary ashram on the bank of a pond called rishi talab situated in weest side of town.The famous Indian botanist and Father of Indian Ecology Professor Ramdev mishra and Prof. K.C Mishra was belonging to Dobhi situated in northern side of town.Two famous Kawwal Aliahmad and Sardar Munna Kaual has provided great fame to khetasarai.
