Trial

On February 29, 2008, a jury found him guilty of first degree murder after deliberating for 23 minutes. This quick verdict is attributed to the showing of Underwood's videotaped confession. A jury recommended the death penalty on March 7, 2008. On April 3, 2008, McClain County District Judge Candace Blalock approved the recommended death sentence.

Between us two it’s not a star at all.
It’s a new patented electric light,
Put up on trial by that Jerseyite

    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Looks like we got a trial ahead of us. But it’s not the first time. We’ve had to go it alone before, and we’ll have to go it alone again. We’re tough. We’ve had to be tough ever since Brother Brigham led our people across the plain. Well, they survived and I dang it, we’ll, well, we’ll survive too. Now put out your fires and get to your wagons.
    Frank S. Nugent (1908–1965)
