Boyce graduated from Columbus East High School in 1990. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Toledo in 1995 and a Master of Public Administration degree from Central Michigan University in 2004. He is married to Crystal Boyce, has two sons and a goddaughter.
