Keshar (Telugu: కేసర'ి) means "saffron flower" in Sanskrit, and keshari refers to the saffron colour used as a natural food colour and spice and in dyes. It is only used from the 7th century in reference to the official colour of the royal Rajput clans of India and then in 1699, Guru Gobind Rai, the tenth guru of the Sikhs, adopted the surname Singh and kesari colour as like Rajputs. It is also a sweet dish commonly made in South India. The sweet dish is made with semolina, sugar & ghee. Since a pinch of Saffron(kesari) is added to give the sweet dish an orange color, the sweet dish is names as 'Kesari' Kesari may refer to:
