Ken Climo

Ken "The Champ" Climo, from Clearwater, Florida, is a professional disc golfer and considered by many to be the best player to have ever played the game. Climo has claimed Twelve PDGA World Championship titles, including nine in as many years from 1990 to 1998. Climo's dominance in the world championships is unmatched; Harold Duvall (1982, 1985), Barry Schultz (2003, 2004), and Nate Doss (2005, 2007, 2011) are the only other golfers with more than one open world title. In addition to his world titles, Climo claimed his fifth United States Disc Golf Championship (the premier event in the game) title in 2007. Named seven times as the PDGA player of the year, Ken Climo was inducted into the PDGA Hall of Fame in 1995. In his career he has won over 200 tournaments and leads the lifetime PDGA money list. He is the record holder. Though eligible for the Masters division (40 and over), he continues to compete and win in the Open division. However, he competed in the World Championships masters division for the first time in 2012, at the age of 44, and won by a large margin, for his 13th world championship title.

In his 20 years on the PDGA, Climo has notched 103 aces.

Climo, with Innova Discs has created his own special blend of plastic, known as KC Pro. Several discs are for sale to the general public in KC Pro, including: the Aviar (putter), Roc (mid-range), Gazelle (fairway driver) and Whippet (fairway driver). More recently, Innova's star line of plastic added the 12-time Ken Climo Wraith driver to the plethora of KC discs.

Famous quotes containing the word ken:

Is America a land of God where saints abide for ever? Where golden fields spread fair and broad, where flows the crystal river? Certainly not flush with saints, and a good thing, too, for the saints sent buzzing into man’s ken now are but poor- mouthed ecclesiastical film stars and cliché-shouting publicity agents.
Their little knowledge bringing them nearer to their ignorance,
Ignorance bringing them nearer to death,
But nearness to death no nearer to God.
    Sean O’Casey (1884–1964)
