Aftermath
After the war, only seven men were charged for their alleged role in Sook Ching in 1947:
- Oishi Masayuki, commander of the 2nd Field Kempeitai.
- Nishimura Takuma, commander of the Imperial Guards Division.
- Kawamura Saburo, commander of the Syonan Defence Garrison.
- Yokota Yoshitaka
- Jyo Tomotatsu
- Onishi Satoru
- Hisamatsu Haruji
Kawamura and Oishi received the death sentence while the remaining five were given life sentences but served just five years until 1952, when Japan regained its sovereignty.
