Famous quotes containing the words famous and/or faculty:
“My generation was ... haunted by Dr. Freud’s psychoanalysis, which ... had become the latest rage among the intelligentsia. I feel sorry for the modern mothers who have not one but a whole swarm of famous psychiatrists to confuse their thinking and spoil their fun by reminding them constantly that love is a dangerous business.”
—Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)
“To write well, to have style ... is to paint. The master faculty of style is therefore the visual memory. If a writer does not see what he describes—countrysides and figures, movements and gestures—how could he have a style, that is originality?”
—Rémy De Gourmont (1858–1915)
