Kaushik Basu

Kaushik Basu (born 9 January 1952) is an Indian economist and academic who is presently Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank. He is currently on leave from Cornell University where he is the C. Marks Professor of International Studies and Professor of Economics. Prior to that he was the Chairman of the Department of Economics and Director, Center for Analytic Economics at Cornell University. Till July 2012 he served as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India.
