Many incidents of public harassment with extreme loud speakers and noises by goons and public disturbances used to be reported during the time of Karnataka Rajyotsava, causing sense of confusion and panic among the non-Kannada speaking population in major cities like Bangalore, also extorting money in the name of celebration. This also happens in most cities in India where religious or linguistic based celebrations are organized.
