Karawal Nagar (Hindi: करावल नगर, Urdu: کراول نگر) is a village in North East district in the Indian state of Delhi. Karawal Nagar is the most developing part of the capital of India. It is the living example of growth and development. Wazirabad Bridge is just a few kilometers from here. This region is covered by "Pusta", which is similar to a high embankment. In the early days, river Yamuna was just a few steps from it. Due to the danger of flood, the Pusta was built. It is also declared as Industrial Area as well. There is almost every thing manufactured in this region. The market is located at Karawal Nagar Chowk.
In Karawal Nagar there are many Almond processing factories also, and all the Almond that is imported from America and Australia is sent in Karawal Nagar for processing and Almond kernels are taken out of Shelled Almonds in here. These almonds are then sent to Khari Baoli, Chandni Chowk for trading and selling purposes. Many importers send their almonds here for processing.
The major part of imported American and Australian almonds are processed in Karawal Nagar.
Many areas of Karawal Nagar are still like slums, there is no water supply, No sewage system etc. But still it is developing. In Karawal Nagar we can find people from U.P, Bihar, West Bengal and almost from every state, most of them are delhi govt employee and business man, some of the population that belongs to the village are dependent on the shops rent.
The main area of village karawal nagar includes Harijan Basti, Prem Vihar, Amar Vihar, Mukhiya Market and Mukund Vihar. As people belong to the middle class here we can easily see local daily markets here.
