See also: Nuclear accidentsOn 13 May 1994, the under-surface of the pre-stressed concrete dome of the reactor unit 1 collapsed during the final stage of construction. It brought down 150 tonnes (330,000 lb) of concrete from a height of 75 metres (246 ft) and injured 14 persons. This incident delayed the completion of the first two units. As per the earlier schedule, the first two units were expected to go critical by June 1996. The construction of the first unit could not be completed before 1999.
