Contributions by Benz to publications of organizations to which she has belonged include articles, design and layout, and illustrations as well as editing. She also has published privately many short stories, some of which include her own illustrations. Some have appeared in commercial media. The great majority of her published works are devoted to natural history, but some are devoted to history, biography, and historic preservation as well, featuring illustrations and details of the subject people and structures.
