• 1962: Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film in Tamil - Sarada

*National film Awards(1963): (National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil for the film "KARPAGAM") State Award from Govt. of India Silver Medal

• National Film Awards(1964): (National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil for the film "KAI KODUTHA DHEIVAM" ) State Award from Govt. of India Silver Medal
• The continuous winning of National awards for three of his consecutive films "SARADA" (1962), "KARPAGAM" (1963), "KAI KODUTHA DHEIVAM (1964)" renders him to be the one and only Indian film director to bag three consecutive NATIONAL awards for his films PURELY ON MERIT BASED ON HIS POWERFUL WRITINGS which is a great achievement.
• The title "IYAKKUNAR THILAGAM" was conferred on him in a function presided by the then by South Indian film chamber president and producer A.L.Srinivasan
• The Tamil Nadu Govt. in the year 1975 awarded the "KALAIMAMANI" title and honoured K.S.Gopalakrishnan for his achievements
• The Tamil Nadu Govt. in the year 1989 awarded the "ANNA VIRUDHU", a prestigious gold medal and honoured K.S.Gopalakrishnan for his achievements.
• K.S.Gopalakrishnan,during 1990s performed special music concerts on Thirupugazh by Arunagiri Nadhar for which he was given the titles "THIRUPUGAZH ISAI ARASU AND THIRUPUGAZH ISAI SELVAM" by the music fraternity in various functions.
