Julian Scriabin - Life

Life

Alexander Scriabin, famous for his innovative piano compositions, had seven children: Rima, Yelena, Maria and Leo from his first marriage to Vera Ivanovna Isakovich; and Ariadna, Julian, and Marina from his relationship with Tatyana Fyodorovna Schloezer (Shlyotser). His eldest daughter Rima (1898-1905) and his son Leo (1902-1910) both died at the age of seven. By the time of the death of Leo, the composer had already been living for several years with Schloezer and had become estranged from his first family, so much so that the parents did not meet even meet at the burial of their son.

Famous quotes containing the word life:

It’s not that we have too much mother, but too little father. We can’t forgive our mothers for taking the place of our fathers until we are ready to see that the point of a man’s life is to be a father and a mentor, and we can’t do that because we don’t know how we would be a father or a mentor when we never had one.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)

My life is superficial, takes no root in the deep world; I ask, When shall I die, and be relieved of the responsibility of seeing a Universe which I do not use? I wish to exchange this flash-of-lightning faith for continuous daylight, this fever-glow for a benign climate.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The secret of the truly successful, I believe, is that they learned very early in life how not to be busy. They saw through that adage, repeated to me so often in childhood, that anything worth doing is worth doing well. The truth is, many things are worth doing only in the most slovenly, halfhearted fashion possible, and many other things are not worth doing at all.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
