She and Regis Philbin have been married since March 1, 1970, and have two children together: Joanna and Jennifer (J.J.). In August 2007 Regis and Joy Philbin announced that their daughter J.J. and her husband, television producer Michael Schur, were expecting their first child in February 2008. William Xavier Schur was born on February 18, 2008. He also is nicknamed "Mr. Trouble" by Regis, and often is referred to as such on Live. On July 14, 2010, at 7:54 p.m., J.J. gave birth to a daughter, Ivy Elizabeth, in California.
