Since July 12, 1982, Behar has been in a relationship with Steve Janowitz, to whom she referred as her "spousal equivalent". On March 17, 2009, Behar announced on The View that she might eventually marry Janowitz, but she called off the engagement three months later because she wanted people to stop talking about it. On August 11, 2011, Behar and Janowitz married, but she chose to maintain her last name. The couple resides in Manhattan, New York. On February 28, 2011, Behar became a grandmother when her daughter Eve had a son, Luca. Behar is an alumna of the Delta Zeta sorority. She has identified herself as agnostic
