Joseph Melrose - Career

Career

Melrose served as the US ambassador to Sierra Leone during the Lomé Peace Talks that followed the end of the Sierra Leone Civil War. Melrose worked with the Sierra Leonian delegation to get them to agree to the peace accord. Melrose was one of the few diplomats to stay with the US embassy in Freetown after most Americans were evacuated from the capital following the Capture of U.N. troops by the RUF.
