Joo Koon MRT Station - Platform Screen Doors

Platform Screen Doors

As with most of the above-ground stations built in the past along the East West Line, it was built without platform screen doors that prevent commuters from falling onto the train tracks. Installations of the half-height screen doors was eventually started on 16 May 2011. On 26 July 2011, all of the screen doors have been installed and began operating.

Famous quotes containing the words platform, screen and/or doors:

I have never yet spoken from a public platform about women in industry that someone has not said, “But things are far better than they used to be.” I confess to impatience with persons who are satisfied with a dangerously slow tempo of progress for half of society in an age which requires a much faster tempo than in the days that “used to be.” Let us use what might be instead of what has been as our yardstick!
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.
Raoul Walsh, U.S. screen writer. Frisco Doll (Mae West)

Unfortunately, it is much easier to shut one’s eyes to good than to evil. Pain and sorrow knock at our doors more loudly than pleasure and happiness; and the prints of their heavy footsteps are less easily effaced.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
