Groff told Broadway.com during the National Equality March in Washington, D.C., that he is "gay and proud". Groff dated actor Gavin Creel. In September 2012, actor Zachary Quinto confirmed that he is dating Groff. According to Quinto's twitter account, they have two dogs together.
