He has also served as the head coach of the Maulers, a Slamball team. His autobiography, John Starks: My Life, was published in 2004.

Starks is part owner and marketer for the Ektio basketball shoe, which doctor and former college basketball player Barry Katz designed to reduce ankle injuries.

Famous quotes containing the words career and/or retirement:

    Barbara Dale (b. 1940)

Adultery itself in its principle is many times nothing but a curious inquisition after, and envy of another man’s enclosed pleasures: and there have been many who refused fairer objects that they might ravish an enclosed woman from her retirement and single possessor.
    Jeremy Taylor (1613–1667)
