John Forte - Charitable Work

Charitable Work

Forté frequently seeks to team up with charitable causes when performing on tour. In the spring of 2011, Forté undertook a 9-week performance tour through Russia. All proceeds from the tour were donated to local orphanages and the international foundations Operation Smile and Petra Nemcova's Happy Hearts Fund.

Forté has been working with at-risk youth to deter them from drugs and crime. He has taught a music course to 12–15 year-old students with In Arms Reach, a Harlem-based initiative for children of incarcerated parents.

In addition to using his musical abilities to help spread a positive message to children, he has been working with a New York-based charity called Music Unites to promote the arts in underserved communities, where he educates students on his version of life, lessons learned, and the pursuit of happiness through music.

Forté has also been involved with various organizations dedicated to prison reform, mitigating prisoner recidivism, and reforming federal and state drug laws.

Famous quotes containing the words charitable and/or work:

O charitable philosopher, I beg you to help me. My mind is weak but my soul is strong. Kindle that soul, and the sacred fire shall never be extinguished.
    James Boswell (1740–1795)

Memory is a wonderfully useful tool, and without it judgement does its work with difficulty; it is entirely lacking in me.... Now, the more I distrust my memory, the more confused it becomes. It serves me better by chance encounter; I have to solicit it nonchalantly. For if I press it, it is stunned; and once it has begun to totter, the more I probe it, the more it gets mixed up and embarrassed. It serves me at its own time, not at mine.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
