John Browne (Fine Gael)

John Browne (born 1 October 1936) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician, who served as a Senator and later as a TD for the constituency of Carlow–Kilkenny.

A former teacher, he was appointed to Seanad Éireann in 1983 by the Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald, but he was not returned again after Fine Gael lost power in the 1987 general election.

Browne was first elected to Dáil Éireann in the 1989 general election and retained his seat in the 1992 and 1997 elections, before retiring at the 2002 General Election.

His son Fergal Browne is a former Senator.
