NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing
In 1993, John Andretti drove the Taco Bell Express Top Fuel Dragster for owner Jack Clark, reaching the semi-finals in his first national event at Atlanta during the FRAM Southern Nationals and clocking a career best speed of 299 mph (481 km/h). In that race he beat 1992 T/F Champion Joe Amato in Round 1 and Mopar Express Lube driver Tommy Johnson Jr. in Round 2 only to lose to Mike Dunn in Darrell Gwynn's La Victoria Salsa Car in the semi-finals. That race was won by Eddie Hill in the Pennzoil car over Dunn.

Casey Jones, throttle in his hand,
Casey Jones mounted to the cabin,
Took his farewell journey to the Promised Land.”

Walking towards them through some dappled park
As if on water that unfocused she
No match lit up, nor drag ever brought near....”

“Upscale people are fixated with food simply because they are now able to eat so much of it without getting fat, and the reason they dont get fat is that they maintain a profligate level of calorie expenditure. The very same people whose evenings begin with melted goats cheese ... get up at dawn to run, break for a mid-morning aerobics class, and watch the evening news while racing on a stationary bicycle.”
—Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
