Joginder Sharma - Finding A Place

Finding A Place

Sharma found a place for himself in the 2007 Twenty-20 World Cup in South Africa. He bowled the final over in India's closely fought semifinal victory over Australia in the tournament with 22 runs required, taking two wickets as India won by 15 runs.

He also bowled the final over in the final against Pakistan with thirteen runs required and only one wicket in hand. His first ball went for a wide and the next was borderline but not called by the umpire. The third was a full toss which was pulled straight back over his head for six by Misbah-ul-Haq. Misbah attempted to scoop the ball over the fine leg fielder from the fourth ball but mistimed it and was caught by Sreesanth, giving India the win. Recently the Haryana government announced a cash reward of Rs 21 lakh for Sharma in recognition of his contribution to the Indian victory.

When any one of our relations was found to be a person of a very bad character, a troublesome guest, or one we desired to get rid of, upon his leaving my house I ever took care to lend him a riding-coat, or a pair of boots, or sometimes a horse of small value, and I always had the satisfaction of finding he never came back to return them.
    Oliver Goldsmith (1728–1774)

Mr. Jordan: What territory do you cover?
Messenger 7013: It’s a place called New Jersey. And if it could be arranged, sir, I should like very much to be transferred.
