Family
Messina's was first married in 1970 to actress Jenny Sullivan; it ended after ten years. The couple had no children. Messina has two children: Julian, from a long relationship, and Josey Messina, his daughter with his second wife. His son, Julian, is a musician and has been playing drums since he was four years old. Messina's wife, Michaela, is an opera singer and a music teacher, who holds a masters degree in education.
