Later Years

During the 1990s he received several awards including being inducted to the Janesville Sports Hall of Fame, the state of Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame and the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame. In the late 1990s, Fitzgerald was involved with SoftSpikes, a soft plastic replacement cleat for golf shoes. Famous quotes containing the word years:

A few years ago, the liberal churches complained that the Calvinistic church denied to them the name of Christian. I think the complaint was confession; a religious church would not complain.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

He took control of me for forty-five minutes. This time I’ll have control over him for the rest of his life. If he gets out fifteen years from now, I’ll know. I’ll check on him every three months through police computers. If he makes one mistake he’s going down again. I’ll make sure. I’m his worst enemy now.
Elizabeth Wilson, U.S. crime victim. As quoted in People magazine, p. 88 (May 31, 1993)
