James R. "Jim" Engebretsen is the assistant dean for Corporate Relations at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University (BYU). Engebretsen was also the main founder of the More Good Foundation.
Engebretsen is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The motivation for the More Good Foundation came from Engebretsen's experiences while serving as president of the Oklahoma Oklahoma City mission from 1998-2001. During this time he had several missionaries who had investigators turn against the church because of false things they had read about the church on the internet. He realized there was a need for more positive and good information about the Church on the internet.
Prior to serving as a mission president Engebretsen was president of Waterloo Capital Management. At that point he was living in the Pennsylvania suburbs of Philadelphia.
Engebretsen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1955. He served as a missionary in the California Sacramento Mission and has bachelors and masters degrees in finance from BYU. Engebretsen is married to the former Tamera Jones and they are the parents of six children.
Among other callings in the church Engebretsen has served as a bishop and a member of a stake high council.
