Jewish Anarchism - Anarchists in Contemporary Israel

Anarchists in Contemporary Israel

There are a number of anarchist groups in Israel. In the past decade, the Israeli group known as "Anarchists Against the Wall" became widely-known in the ongoing struggle around the creation of the variously-called Separation Wall/Fence/Barrier on the West Bank.

While most of them are ethnically Jewish, members of the group do not define themselves as being "Jewish anarchists".

Famous quotes containing the words anarchists, contemporary and/or israel:

Whether we immoralists do any harm to virtue?—Just as little as anarchists do to princes. It is only because they have been shot at that they once again sit securely on their thrones. Moral: we must shoot at morals.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Americans have internalized the value that mothers of young children should be mothers first and foremost, and not paid workers. The result is that a substantial amount of confusion, ambivalence, guilt, and anxiety is experienced by working mothers. Our cultural expectations of mother and realities of female participation in the labor force are directly contradictory.
Ruth E. Zambrana, U.S. researcher, M. Hurst, and R.L. Hite. “The Working Mother in Contemporary Perspectives: A Review of Literature,” Pediatrics (December 1979)

Let Israel hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy,
And with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Bible: Hebrew Psalm CXXX (l. CXXX, 7–8)
