Jerry Rawlings - Post-presidency Activities

Post-presidency Activities

October 2010, Jerry Rawlings was named AU Envoy to Somalia. African Union chief Jean Ping appointed Rawlings to this position and he believed that Rawlings, would be tasked with "mobilising the continent and the rest of the international community to fully assume its responsibilities and contribute more actively to the quest for peace, security and reconciliation in Somalia".

He has given lectures in universities, including at the Oxford University. He has continued his heavy criticism even with his former party back in power with his former vice-president, John Atta Mills.

Famous quotes containing the word activities:

There is, I think, no point in the philosophy of progressive education which is sounder than its emphasis upon the importance of the participation of the learner in the formation of the purposes which direct his activities in the learning process, just as there is no defect in traditional education greater than its failure to secure the active cooperation of the pupil in construction of the purposes involved in his studying.
    John Dewey (1859–1952)
