Jerry Only - Involvement With Sid Vicious

Involvement With Sid Vicious

Only was one of the few people to see Sid Vicious the night he died. In 1979, he attended a party that Sid's mother threw for Sid when he was released on bail for being accused of murdering his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, at the time. Only said in an interview that he and Sid's mom made him dinner. Next morning Sid was dead of a heroin overdose. A note was found in Sid's pocket which gave speculation that it was a suicide due to he and Nancy having a death pact. Only would then go with Sid's mom to spread Sid's ashes on Nancy's grave. Sid originally wanted to be buried next to her like his suicide note said but Nancy's family refused.

Many people now believe that if fathers are more involved in raising children than they were, children and sons in particular will learn that men can be warm and supportive of others as well as be high achievers. Thus, fathers’ involvement may be beneficial not because it will help support traditional male roles, but because it will help break them down.
    Joseph H. Pleck (20th century)

Every day confirms my opinion on the superiority of a vicious life—and if Virtue is not its own reward I don’t know any other stipend annexed to it.
