Jerry Hill (politician) - Personal Life

Personal Life

Born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, Jerry Hill attended local public schools and graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco. Hill attended University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree after spending a year at the College of San Mateo. He later attended San Francisco State University, where he received a lifetime secondary teaching credential. Shortly thereafter, Hill went to work with his father in the family's swimming pool business that he still owns and runs.

In the 1980s Hill became president of his local homeowners association. This led him to join the battle to prevent mid-rise buildings from being constructed in downtown San Mateo and in 1991 led to a successful campaign for a seat on the San Mateo City Council.
