Interviews and Other Information
In December 2011, Judge Rakoff granted an interview to Howard Fineman, which can be found here.
In June 2010, the Federal Bar Council prepared a judicial profile of Judge Rakoff.
Rakoff, a fan of musical theater, wrote a song for a recent edition of the “Courthouse Follies.” The title of the song was, “A Modern Major Law Clerk,” taken from Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Modern Major General.”
I laugh at all my judge’s jokes, and listen to his endless spiel.I never pay the slightest heed to his reversals on appeal.
And even in those moments when it looks like he has gone berserk,
I smile and say, “More coffee, Judge?” – a perfect district judge’s clerk. —Jed S. Rakoff, Judge Jed S. Rakoff, The Outtakes, Wall Street Journal http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2011/11/09/judge-jed-rakoff-the-outtakes/]Read more about this topic: Jed S. Rakoff
Famous quotes containing the words interviews and/or information:
“What a perpetual disappointment is actual society, even of the virtuous and gifted! After interviews have been compassed with long foresight, we must be tormented presently by baffled blows, by sudden, unseasonable apathies, by epilepsies of wit and of animal spirits, in the heyday of friendship and thought. Our faculties do not play us true, and both parties are relieved by solitude.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it.”
—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
