Jean Hay Bright is an American politician from Maine. Originally a member of the Maine Democratic Party, Hay Bright re-registered as "unenrolled" in December 2009 following the announcement of the Afghanistan War troop surge of 2009. It was speculated that she may contest Democrat Mike Michaud and Republican Jason Levesque in the 2010 House of Representatives election.
Hay Bright previously ran for the Democratic nomination to the House of Representatives in 1994 and the Senate in 1996. Hay Bright is also a writer and former investigative reporter who has written three books and many published columns.

Famous quotes containing the words hay and/or bright:
“The symbol of perpetual youth, the grass-blade, like a long green ribbon, streams from the sod into the summer, checked indeed by the frost, but anon pushing on again, lifting its spear of last years hay with the fresh life below. It grows as steadily as the rill oozes out of the ground.... So our human life but dies down to its root, and still puts forth its green blade to eternity.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“The years when we are parenting teenagers are the high point, the crest when everything seems to be in bright colors and in ten-foot letters.”
—Jean Jacobs Speizer. Ourselves and Our Children, by Boston Womens Health Collective, ch. 4 (1978)
