Jay London

Jay London (born September 12, 1966) is an American stand-up comic, whose one-liner jokes made him a favorite on NBC's Last Comic Standing. Although he did not win either of the two seasons in which he appeared (Seasons 2 and 3, both in 2004), his humble personality and clean comedy made him a favorite among the show's fans.

London was born in The Bronx, but grew up in Flushing, Queens, before moving to Los Angeles in his adult years. He was a boxer and a taxicab driver, among other occupations, before becoming a stand-up comic in the 1980s.

Famous quotes containing the words jay and/or london:

... So damn your food and damn your wines,
Your twisted loaves and twisting vines,
Your table d’hôte, your à la carte,
    . . . .
From now on you can keep the lot.
Take every single thing you’ve got,
Your land, your wealth, your men, your dames,
    Your dream of independent power,
    And dear old Konrad Adenauer,
And stick them up your Eiffel Tower.
    —Anthony Jay (b. 1930)

    Pancakes and fritters,
Say the bells of St. Peter’s.
    Two sticks and an apple,
    Say the bells of Whitechapel.

    Kettles and pans,
Say the bells of St. Ann’s.
—Unknown. The Bells of London (l. 7–12)
