Background
Birtles went to Brighton & Hove High School. She won a scholarship to read English Literature at Christ's College, Cambridge where she was a member of Footlights and performed with Cambridge University Light Entertainment Society. After university she enjoyed a short stint as an actress and toured with a production of Don’t Dress For Dinner. She still takes to the stage as a stand up comedian and once compered her own comedy club The Giggling Elk. She lives London.
