History
Jamestown High School was first established in 1867. 1903 marked the publishing of the first yearbook and in 1924, the A'Cappella Choir was founded which still exists today. In 1934, the present day building began construction as part of Roosevelt's New Deal. The new school building was officially finished on November 15, 1935. In 1979, the first Battle of the Classes took place, which still continues today. The event raised about $250,000 over the course of 30 years for local charities. From 1984 to 1987, the school went through modernization, including the construction of a new Gym. In 1993, the Red Raider Football team lost in the first New York State football championship series. The team did however, go on to win the state championship in 1994, 1995, and 2000. One Thanksgiving 1995, the Red Raider Marching Band marched as the "Santa Band" in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band won the State Championship in 2002 and became the Orange Bowl champions in 2003. In fall 2004. the Jamestown Tech Academy opened for classes for students at Jamestown High School. In January 2008, the Red Raider Marching Band marched in the Citrus Bowl Parade and Disney world. The Jamestown high school basketball team has also had many accomplisments in winning multiple division and sectional championships. In 2010 the Red Raiders made it to the elite eight of the New York State Championship.
