James Valentine is an Australian journalist, musician, and radio and television presenter.
As a musician, Valentine has worked with Australian artists such as Kate Ceberano and Joe Camilleri. In 1984 he joined the band Models and played with them until they broke up in 1988. James experienced professional success as saxophone player in the 1980s including with Absent Friends on Here's Looking Up Your Address and Wendy Matthews debut solo album, Émigré (1990).
Since then, James has been a music and television journalist and radio presenter. He achieved fame as host of the Afternoon Show on ABC TV in the late 1980s and continued his time at the ABC as a presenter of 'TV TV'. He did a stint as a presenter with 666 ABC Canberra and nowadays presents an afternoon show on radio 702 ABC Sydney. A number of humorous sketches which James Valentine has presented on air are on the ABC's Humour Australia website.
Valentine is also the author of a series of books for teenage boys, beginning with the sci-fi novel JumpMan.
As of January 2010 Valentine narrates the Australian version of 'Come Dine With Me'.
