He made his debut after starting the game and England won 2–0. He was called up again in October 2008 for a game against Italy, scoring the goal that sent England to the International Challenge Trophy Final in a 2–2 draw at the Stadio Santa Colomba. He was called up to the team for this game against the Belgium under-21 team, saying "It's an incredibly proud feeling to be representing my country at this level." Famous quotes containing the word career:

What exacerbates the strain in the working class is the absence of money to pay for services they need, economic insecurity, poor daycare, and lack of dignity and boredom in each partner’s job. What exacerbates it in upper-middle class is the instability of paid help and the enormous demands of the career system in which both partners become willing believers. But the tug between traditional and egalitarian models of marriage runs from top to bottom of the class ladder.
    Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
