Beattie married his fiancée Sarah Rendle in Manchester on 20 May 2006. They had a baby son, James Samuel, on 6 September 2006. Sarah gave birth to their second child on 23 April 2010, called George James. His wife Sarah gave birth to their 3rd child on 24 July 2011, called Halle Sarah.
In 2010, he declared his support for the Conservative Party at that year's general election, speaking of his concern about the Labour government's increase in the top rate of income tax to 50 per cent.
