Pop Culture References
- Due to his drunken stupor, Bab forgets that Brosnan did not star in Volcano, but in Dante's Peak. The film, together with Volcano and Anaconda, were already released in theatres in June 1997.
- Polgas' threat to have the bank robbers killed is eerily reminiscent of the alleged circumstances behind the Kuratong Baleleng rub-out case in 1995. Philippine Senator Panfilo Lacson was investigated over the case that year as chief of the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission's Task Force Habagat.
- The strip where Polgas apparently caught Bab pocketing the money does not actually show Bab's hands on the cash. A closer inspection shows one pile gradually disappearing - all the while, Polgas has his back to Bab.
- Polgas' claim about being a relative of Mike Tyson is a reference to the Bite Fight, which already happened during the time that the story arc was published.
- Miniguns normally have six barrels. Tomas' version has seven.
- Brawlio's remarks about dumb goons are indeed a common occurrence in Philippine action movies. Medina explained it further in a series of strips published in Pugad Baboy 6, which tackled typical clichés that are usually present in Philippine-made movies.
- Ilocano-speaking characters would come back again in the 2000 story arc Private Investigator!

Famous quotes containing the words pop culture, pop and/or culture:
“There is no comparing the brutality and cynicism of todays pop culture with that of forty years ago: from High Noon to Robocop is a long descent.”
—Charles Krauthammer (b. 1950)
“Every man has been brought up with the idea that decent women dont pop in and out of bed; he has always been told by his mother that nice girls dont. He finds, of course, when he gets older that this may be untruebut only in a certain section of society.”
—Barbara Cartland (b. 1901)
“The first time many women hold their tiny babies, they are apt to feel as clumsy and incompetent as any man. The difference is that our culture tells them theyre not supposed to feel that way. Our culture assumes that they will quickly learn how to be a mother, and that assumption rubs off on most womenso they learn.”
—Pamela Patrick Novotny (20th century)
