Jalen Rose Leadership Academy
In September 2011, the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, founded by Jalen Rose and Michael Carter, opened in Detroit. It is an open enrollment public charter school. The inaugural class consisted of 120 ninth graders. The school has a partnership with the University of Detroit Mercy. Students can take university courses when they become upperclassmen.
