Jackie Stallone - in Popular Culture

In Popular Culture

In 1994, Jackie Stallone was parodied in a Saturday Night Live skit in which Mike Myers played Stallone (looking similar to his Coffee Talk persona Linda Richman). Stallone advertised a hotline telling of her two sons "Sylvester, the famous star and Frank, a struggling musician". Stallone encouraged customers to call so she could steer them away from the "Frank", or negativity in their lives, and on their way to success and "Sylvester".

Her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother 3 was parodied in French and Saunders, with Dawn French playing Stallone and Jennifer Saunders playing Bridgette Nielsen. They parodied Jackie's entrance into the house, with French repeating "Yeah, Jackie" and Saunders repeating "Oh my god, Jackie".

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:

Fifty million Frenchmen can’t be wrong.
    —Anonymous. Popular saying.

Dating from World War I—when it was used by U.S. soldiers—or before, the saying was associated with nightclub hostess Texas Quinan in the 1920s. It was the title of a song recorded by Sophie Tucker in 1927, and of a Cole Porter musical in 1929.

As the twentieth century ends, commerce and culture are coming closer together. The distinction between life and art has been eroded by fifty years of enhanced communications, ever-improving reproduction technologies and increasing wealth.
    Stephen Bayley (b. 1951)
