Jackie McNamara - International Career

International Career

McNamara has 33 caps for Scotland and played at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Although he did not feature in the World Cup opener against Champions Brazil in Paris, his introduction from the bench in Scotland's second game against Norway in Bordeaux was seen as pivotal in levelling a one goal defecit. The game finished 1-1 thereby leaving Scotland with a chance of qualification to the knockout stages. Ultimately the efforts were futile as Morocco were victorious in St Etienne with a 3-0 score line in the final game and Norway managed to qualify from the group with a draw against Brazil.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

I seemed intent on making it as difficult for myself as possible to pursue my “male” career goal. I not only procrastinated endlessly, submitting my medical school application at the very last minute, but continued to crave a conventional female role even as I moved ahead with my “male” pursuits.
    Margaret S. Mahler (1897–1985)
