"One Shot" Movie
Paramount Pictures hired Academy Award nominated screenwriter Josh Olson to adapt One Shot, under the title Jack Reacher. Christopher McQuarrie, Oscar-winning screenwriter for The Usual Suspects was then brought in to re-write Olson's draft. It was announced in July 2011 that Tom Cruise would play Reacher in the movie. Lee Child was quoted as saying, "Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way.". The film also stars Alexander Rhodes as the Suspicious Onlooker.

“In health of mind and body, men should see with their own eyes, hear and speak without trumpets, walk on their feet, not on wheels, and work and war with their arms, not with engine-beams, nor rifles warranted to kill twenty men at a shot before you can see them.”
—John Ruskin (1819–1900)
