Jaap Eden Baan

The Jaap Eden baan is an ice rink. It is located in the Watergraafsmeer, a neighbourhood in the east of Amsterdam. The rink is named after the famous Dutch Ice Skater Jaap Eden.

It contains a 400-metre lane and an ice hockey stadium. The stadium is the home of the semi-professional team, Amsterdam G's, of the NIJB Eredivisie, and the amateur Amstel Tijgers of the Eerste Divisie.

Famous quotes containing the word eden:

The new sound-sphere is global. It ripples at great speed across languages, ideologies, frontiers and races.... The economics of this musical esperanto is staggering. Rock and pop breed concentric worlds of fashion, setting and life-style. Popular music has brought with it sociologies of private and public manner, of group solidarity. The politics of Eden come loud.
    George Steiner (b. 1929)
