Was The Name "J. Frank Dalton" Just An Alias?

Considerable evidence exists that the name "J. Frank Dalton" (in full: John Frank Dalton) was itself just an alias that this man used. There was a famous lawman of the Old West named Frank Dalton (in full: John Franklin "Frank" Dalton) (June 8, 1859 - Nov. 27, 1887), who was a Deputy U. S. Marshal for the Oklahoma Territory under Judge Isaac Charles Parker (1838-1896). This Frank Dalton was an older brother to the 4 Dalton brothers who were members of famous criminal gangs. Frank's brothers Grat, Bob, and Emmett Dalton were members of the Dalton Gang, and his brother Bill Dalton was a member of the Wild Bunch Gang. It is possible that J. Frank Dalton (1848-1951) admired this lawman Frank Dalton and borrowed his full name to use as an alias. Assuming this to be the case, Dalton's real name and family background are still mysteries which no one, to date, has been able to discover or document.
