Ivory Knight

Ivory Knight was a Canadian metal quartet whose sound combined elements of power metal, thrash, progressive metal, hard rock, and death metal.

Ivory Knight was originally founded in 1988 by vocalist / multi-instrumentalist John Devadasan Perinbam and Paul Malek, who played drums on the Annihilator demos. The band recorded a 5-song cassette demo called "Voices in Your Nightmare" which received excellent reviews from all over the world. Despite this early success, the band broke up in 1990 due to musical differences.

Perinbam reformed Ivory Knight in late 1999 with drummer George Nesrallah, bassist Steve Mercer, and guitarist Rob Gravelle.

The band has shared the stage with many acts including Sword, Blackstar (featuring John Ricci and Jacques Belanger of Exciter), and more recently Sonata Arctica. In 2004 the band was to open for the metal band W.A.S.P., but the headliners cancelled at soundcheck due to security concerns.

In 2001, the band released a self-produced full-length CD called Up from the Ashes. In 2005 Ivory Knight released Unconscience. The album was mixed and mastered by Annihilator mastermind Jeff Waters. Gyula Havancsak, also known for his work on Annihilator's All For You album, created the CD artwork and layout.

Famous quotes containing the words ivory and/or knight:

We have fallen in the dreams the Ever-living
Breathe on the burnished mirror of the world
And then smooth out with ivory hands and sigh,
And find their laughter sweeter to the taste
    For that brief sighing.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Nae living man I’ll love again,
Since that my lovely knight is slain.
Wi ae lock of his yellow hair
I’ll chain my heart for evermair.
